Prayers of Praise

Prayers of praise acknowledge God for what He is. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church (Para. 2639) notes, praise "lauds God for his own sake and gives him glory, quite beyond what he does, but simply because HE IS. It shares in the blessed happiness of the pure of heart who love God in faith before seeing him in glory." The Psalms are perhaps the best-known example of prayers of praise. Prayers of love or charity are another form of prayers of praise—expressions of our love for God, the source and object of all love. The Act of Charity, a common morning prayer, is good example of a prayer of praise.

In the silence of the heart God speaks. If you face God in prayer and silence, God will speak to you. Mother Teresa (1910-1997)

Prayer of praise and adoration

My heart is filled with adoration

When I lift my eyes to you.

For you are Lord of all creation,

You make all things new.

My soul is filled with lasting peace

When I close my eyes to sleep.

For you are Lord, you're right beside me

I'm safe within your keep.

My mind is filled with inspiration

When I open my eyes anew.

For you are hope and love outspoken,

Your words are full of truth.

My life is full of aspiration

When I see through eyes that weep.

For you are Lord of the grand and broken,

May I be your hands and feet.

Prayer of Praise

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
We praise you and give you glory:
We bless you for calling us to be your holy people.

Remain in our hearts,
And guide us in our love and service.
Help us to let our light shine before others
And lead them to the way of faith.

Holy Trinity of love,
We praise you now and for ever.

Amen!

Psalm 34

I will always praise the Lord.

With all my heart, I will praise the Lord.

Let all who are helpless,

listen and be glad.

Honor the Lord with me!

Celebrate his great name.

(Psalm 34:1-3, CEV)

Prayer of Praise and Thanksgiving

Almighty God, You are author of life.

We are in awe of your creation.

The vast oceans reflect your majesty.

The ever changing skies renew our lands.

The deep valleys carry your peace and shelter.

You are saviour of the world.

We are amazed at your grace.

The nations find peace in your forgiveness.

The sufferer hope in your healing hands.

The burdened rest in your promise of heaven.

You are unconditional love.

We are privileged to be filled by your presence.

The youth are filled with your vision.

The old are filled with your wisdom.

The oppressed are unchained by your freedom.

Almighty God, Father, Son and Spirit We worship you!
